3.7's with 285/70 or bigger

Trying to do a little bit of research here. Looking to see how many other 3.7L WK's and XK's there are that are currently running 285/70r17 tires or larger.

I plan on running 285's after I put my superlift on this summer. Can't decide between duratracs(55 lbs), bfg all terrain(59 lbs) or Nitto trail grappler(63 lbs). Would the extra weight of the trail grapplers kill me?

i would not go with anything heavier than the duratracs...that's a whole lot of weight to begin with.

Sometimes when you shave weight on a tire, you can compromise the strength of the tire... ply strength anyway. When you do decide to look for a 285.. I'm not sure what kind of wheeling ya'll do... if none, then by all means, get the biggest lightest tire. But if you do wheel - you definitely want to pay attention to the ply strength, and load rating.

I want 285's and I'm sure that with the 93 octane tune that I have, I wouldn't have a problem turning them because my WK now turn 255/75's better than the stock tires with the tune.

I just don't want to use spacers. I'm hoping I can run 285's with Moabs and get away with it without spacers.

As soon as you hit an extreme off-camber position, that tire will catch the fender and screw up your tire. You're also looking at rubbing the pinchweld up front. These things have to be modified to accomodate 285's even on MOABs.

Yeah. I'm fully aware of the pinch weld needing to be folded.

As for the chamber, I'm not wheeling this thing anymore. That will never happen.

Does anybody know if I can run 285/70's on Moabs without wheel spacers? I do have the bolt cut and more than likely will install JBA UCA's before I give it to my brother.

Then you already know the answer to your question - lol. The purpose of the spacers is to back it off the bolt (which you've already cut) and prevent rub on the swaybar at full lock. Use of these spacers IS what causes it to rub the pinchweld (which you are already aware of). Don't forget the fenders :)

I'll be giving 285's with Moabs a shot then. Thanks.
