What's a good street tire?

I bought some Goodyear SR-A's about 2.5 yrs ago and now my fronts are quite bald.... They are 235/65r17

I like the look of a bit wider tire, maybe 245 or 255. But I'm not going for an offroad look so not much taller. And I don't want them to rub.

I'd like an aggressive street tire that won't bald in 27K miles and can handle some higher speeds.... Haha

Try and keep the suggestions under $150 a pop. :D

-And whats the largest width i can use without rubbing, 255?

I use this site to compare sizes to the stockers for height/speed differences. then check tire rack for prices. while you might get better prices elsewhere, its an idea for the tire size you're thinking about. you could go 255 width easily.

Nice! Thanks man.

Mine are within their warranty so they are giving $60/tire credit but they won't price match tire rac. Its either the tire rac price match or the credit, which the credit is bigger but that seems stupid to me.

THe GY SRA's are at best a middle of the road tire; I had them OEM for 26k and they handle and steer poorly. Bought Fortera tripletreads, very expensive, and they were rough and bouncy riding, very poor in snow, poor steering response and, and sold them after 8k. Went with Firestone Dest. AT's, and they are great; handling, ride, steering, in snow; and after 40k they are still much better than SRA's were new.

I put 255/60/17 Bridgestone Dueler H/L alenzas on ours about 2 years ago and they are great. They were $160/each though, but there was a $100 rebate on a set of 4. I would certainly buy them again, and the added width does look (and handle) good. 255/60 is really close in height to 235/65 and I don't think I could go any wider, at least in the front, they are really close to the suspension arm on the inside.

Ended up getting Yokohama yk580's great looking, feeling and sound is quiet. Tread warranty is 60k miles lol and with an H speed rating so the wont be unstable when I have to get on it

Totally reviving this thread! I GIVE YOU LIFE! btw, IMHO Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor's are great tires. Sweet tread for all terrain, Kevlar lining, and smooth ride.

Yeah, I considered those, but I had a 2wd and never see grass. The yokosuka are sweet. I only got one so far since the others weren't as bad.

I plan to get the rest soon. It doesn't even seen to show any wear what so ever so far. Great tire!

you should never replace only one of the tires on an axle

I recently buy four Bridgeston Dueler HL Alenza, in firestone of laredo Tx, and it's cost was $ 881 dlls (sale 10% off on fathers day ) only $801 already installed.
I'm really liked this tires, it's handled in dry and water is excellent, no noise.
245 65 R17
Recomended..
