Re: Gauge lighting

i havent opened up the switch cluster, but if i had to guess it would be circuit mounted LEDs. they would need to be unsoldered and removed, then replaced. its not to hard, but would be best to have some exp with it. if you end up replacing the buttons, ill take your old ones just so i can open it up and play with the circuit board.

Re: Gauge lighting

yes.....you have the remove the back and add new LED's.....just buy a new one or a used one. I've seen them on ebay for like $25

Re: Gauge lighting

they are surface mount leds, i was thinking about changing all the green lights, to something like blue or white so i took it apart to see what i would be getting into. In fact the far left side of my fan switch doesnt light up sometimes, then i tap it and it comes on. Something must be loose, sounds like you have the same problem. I've changed leds in other cars, its not too hard, but its time consuming

Re: Gauge lighting

ok well this is how he did it
"Basically I just put electrical tape over the circuit board and hot glued the LED on top of the tape. Then just soldered the LEDs into the power source on the circuit board. I had to take a dremel to the plastic a few times to make the LEDs and wires fit, but overall it was pretty easy."

Here are the pics

I really dont like how he did the AC controls but he had to do what he had to do so i looks good and if you do read through the post it seems pretty easy again mods im sorry for the link to another forum
