A real noticeable clunking into gear is more likely to be the axle isolator bushings than a driveshaft, IMO.

U-joints on a drive shaft are more likely to cause a vibration at a certain speed range, and a clicking, grinding or clunking type noise at slow speed and when you first shift into gear.

Of course, your description of slamming into gear could be very different than mine - making internet diagnosing so much more interesting!

I would hold off until the driveshaft is replaced, and then try to troubleshoot if the problem remains.

I have bad joints on my driveshaft. Anybody know where I can find a new driveshaft online for cheap?

Re: bad drive shaft

I just called a local fabricating shop right down the street, I'm taking my WK in to have a custom driveshaft made. :)

I'm sure that'll be a better deal than the ~$700 the dealership charges

Plus. you'll be able to put in U-Joints with grease fittings to prevent future problems.

The dealer driveshaft is a little over $1000. Labor isn't expensive though. Less than an hour so they would only charge about $30.

Rear. It's gone bad.

Ticks on acceleration and humming around 40-45 mph.
