Destination ATs Anyone?
Is anybody running Firestone Destination ATs on their WK2? From what I heard it's a really good tire but I don't perceive much love from WK2 owners. Good price too... About 860 installed on 265-65-17.

Any feedback on them?

Re: Destination ATs Anyone?
I ran these on one of my Expeditions and also on a work Explorer (I know, I know, this is a Jeep forum) and the Destination ATs were excellent tires in everything but mud. A forum friend of mine, Bmwister, also ran them on his wife's truck per my suggestion and he and she loved them. But, just about any AT tire is not going to be great in mud. The Destination ATs really shine on the road as far as how quiet there are, how well they stuck in dry and wet, and very good snow performance that is close to what I got out of Blizzaks on an our other work Explorer. Deep snow performance was very good.

Having gloated about Destination ATs, I have been led to look at Cooper Zeon LTZ and Cooper AT3 tires. Some Land Rover guys I trailed with recently in WI/MI swear by the Zeon LTZ with some guys on their third set. The AT3 is new and supposedly rate a bit better than the Zeons but real world reports are scarce. The Zeon LTZ in 275/55R20 is on a JeepGarage member's ride right now and maybe they'll do a follow up review. Regardless, I'm going to get the Zeon LTZ because of what the Land Rover guys said and what I the tires do in some serious muck that I'd have expected required mud tires.

I have a WJ so I don't know if you want a response but I absolutely love them. I have never gotten stuck once in any snow conditions unless my body was resting on the snow. The only thing that I have driven that holds better to the road was a car with some snow tires.

Love 'em on mine, deep winter, trail, tow, spirited highway. Highest rated AT on Tirerack at a great price. No brainer.

Only tough decision is going OWL or turning 'em inside.

Re: Destination ATs Anyone?
Wow thanks guys, I wanted to get a tire I can buy locally and this seems like a no brainer for the price. I also wanted to make sure they were not a "Ford" thing. LOL Nothing agains Ford but don't want to go against the Jeep culture. I am all set now... Feb 20th will get my 17's powdercoated, then Destination ATs. No idea with or without letters... probably without....

^Most local Firestone Tire dealers/installers will match online pricing as well if you happened to see a gap.

I have them on mine, the tires are great. We get a lot of rain and run I through a lot of mud and they do great! Its a great buy!

Re: Destination ATs Anyone?
Don't have them on a Jeep but do run them on my work truck (1500 chevy ext. cab 4x4) that I put around 40K miles a year on and I am "off road" about 50% of the time. These tires are some of the best all around tires I have ever used. Pretty good traction both on and off road plus they last a long time. I will consider them when it is time to replace my Jeeps tires.

Re: Destination ATs Anyone?
Thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts. It was a hard decision but I ended up with the Discoverer AT3. Got them for $775 installed including tax from Strauss Auto here in Jersey. Decided with black wall. So far, so good.

Re: Destination ATs Anyone?
Hey Moosehead, what size are whose 18 tires?

moosehead 02-14-2012 12:06 PM

Re: Destination ATs Anyone?
^Kland, mine are stock size 265/60/18 on the Jeep 18x8 rims.

I believe several members upsized successfully to 275/65/18 with no rubbing (the1jake, chibianh, others?).
