Rear liftgate overhead interior lights, how to replace?

Do I need to remove the whole covering, if so, how? It looks like the clear plastic cover over the lights could be removed, is it that easy?

I couldn't get the lenses out of mine from the interior, so I had to pull the cover in order to gain access. This is also a good time to change the reverse lights that are in the lift gate. IIRC, the cover pops right off using a plastic trim tool...just go slow and work your way around the perimeter. I don't think there were any bolts that had to be undone, they are all "Christmas tree" fasteners. I do think there was one separate section up around the wiper motor that pulls off separately from the rest of the interior panel.

i am thinking about the putco neutrons reverse lights too, but for $51.99 - not sure yet if it's worth it, seems like putco gets below avg reviews on amazon.com

Also, check to see if Amazon has any listed as "Used" available from Warehouse Deals. I purchased several sets of Putcos from Amazon for $4-$8 that were listed as used-like new for damaged packaging...when I got them I could find nothing wrong with them.

i was able to pop the clear covers on the interior overhead lift-gate lights, it was easy with a micro flathead screwdriver - zero damage to the plastic trim. i was intrigued the 194 bulbs are tinted blue from the factory.
