Swapped to a Balanced Sleeve T-stat

I just swapped from a Jet 180 t-stat into a Mopar 180 balanced sleeve t-stat, it seated in perfect and without a fight. What a big difference so far. Now temps are running 175-205. Install was a breeze with the how to guides out there and only lost a little bit of coolant, an extra set of hands would've been better holding the ziploc than the duct tape I used. Only time will tell how it goes, but so far so good after a few trips.

No pics, sorry guys & gals. Here is the p/n I used: P4876307. The guy at the counter was shocked at the price... $12 CDN, The stock one was $40 CDN.

Well, after a short trial I switched to a Motorad 176 degree t-stat. I kept throwing the taking too long code. So far so good with the 170.

Ive been very happy with my jet 180. Temp holds steady, no leaks etc. Did you have problems with your Jet?

Had it (jet) fail on me within a year.

Just thought I'd do a 6 month update on the M/R 176 t-stat. After alot of driving with the M/R 176 I prefer it over the Jet (I know M/R makes the Jet). I find my temps lower all around, oil life prolonged and better fuel mileage. In WOT my temps raise to mid ranges, whereas with the Jet they would red line. I've had it throw the odd code on colder days in late winter/early spring, but it threw heat as per normal and a/c cold in the cab. The only mod that needed to be done was a quick pass with a dremel and it seated in perfectly.

IMHO the M/R 176 is a cheap but excellent upgrade.

I wouldn't know about that to be honest. If the diameter and depth are the same size it should work. Also if your vehicle is parked for winter I can't see any problems. The only times mine threw a code was during cooler mornings in spring and in the middle of the night in summer in the low-mid teens Celsius.
