Performance chips??

Im interested in getting a performance chip for my 03 Limited. Im not interested in huge horsepower gains, I am however interested in durability and fuel mileage. Is there a Chip that will increase the longevity of my motor, and maybe help with fuel mileage. My main interest is getting 200k miles plus out of it(if at all possible). I love my Jeep, but its got 100k on it now and id love to keep it for the long haul so when I get a new truck in a year or so I can build on my Jeep. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Superchips is what you should get. Don't get those cheap chips off ebay or some random site.

If you want your Jeep to last long, keep up with maintance. Oil Changes every 3,000 miles, transmission service....etc.

X2 what Chaoul1 said, regular maintenance is the best way to keep your jeep in good shape. Engine oil, transmission, transfer case, and diffs should all gave their fluids changed as specified in the manual. Spark plugs, air filter and coolant too.

Also, I do have the superchips 3875 and would recommend it for performance. Not sure if it helps much for longevity but it's definitely more fun to drive. The firmer shifts should help transmission life though.

For the longest time I thought my Jeep was that until I realized it was the darker Patriot Blue lol.

Ive researched the superchips a tiny bit, is it an actual chip or just the tuning device? Does the tuner stay in and how often do you change settings? Is there a site with more information? Sorry, im still new to computer tuning, lifting and such, my main focus has been audio, or my old 5.0 mustang....

Re: Performance chips??

Superchips is a handheld programmer, you plug it into the diagnostic port, install a tune, and then keep it handy in case you want to change programming. You can go to http://superchips.com for more information.

Avoid just "chips" that go between your PCM and wire harness, I have heard mostly negative things about them, with the exception of Jet, but I still think the superchips is better.

You can plug the superchips into a computer and download updates from their websites, but otherwise they just offer a few preset tunes for these jeeps, an 87 octane, a 91 octane, mileage, and towing. I highly recommend the 87 octane tune, 91 is nice but gas gets expensive. Mileage didn't do much in my experience. Haven't tried the tow mode yet.

Ok, that makes sense, thanks for clarifying.

Jet's the only one that works right and people haven't had an issue with. Other ones don't work right and seem to be junk.

SCT is also available, and I can tune it.
