9145 to 9005 fog light bulb swap.

For those that have done this and use the fog lights, I have some questions. Since the 9005 does not have a shadow tip, how bad is the uncontrolled light coming from the tip? Any glare back when using in rain/snow/really foggy nights? And lastly, if you have been running them often and for a long time, did the houseing hold up? I don't know if the foglight houseings are the same for 2005-2010, or when the redesign came in 2008 when Chrysler moved the fog lamp down if they made the houseing bigger, or smaller, or neither. If anything, I hoped it was maybe bigger to help with the possible heat issue of the 9005 in that space since the fog lamp is plastic.

will melt the housing depending on how much you use them/

all wk-05-10 use the same fog light housing.

Outstanding. Thank you for the info:) Looks like it's time to by auxiliary lighting then. Thanks again for the wisdom, as out of the 16 vehicles I have owned prior, this WK is BY FAR my favorite, and I don't wanna mess it up:)

I had the 9005 silverstar ultras in my fogs for awhile...never melted the fogs...but the lenses did crack with the oem fogs.

I've been running yellow 9005 bulbs in mine for over a year, use them every day, and the housings haven't melted

You using the Noykia bulbs? If so, I thought their yellow fog bulbs were actually closer to 55-60 watts, instead of the usual 65 watt 9005. Which may explain why the houseing has held up. I don't really want yellow. I would like to stay between 3800-4100K on the color. As that range has worked for my vision the best under all weather conditions I have encountered. I am not quite sold on doing the HID switch yet, as I am concerned about the cutoff using the factory halogen reflector. The factory design is very good, just would like another 500-700 lumens per light and it would be perfect.

Yes I'm using Nokya bulbs but no, they're rated at the standard 65W

hmmm, to add one or two LEDs, that is now the question...

I already pulled the overhead unit, it's sitting in front of me lol

Re: 9145 to 9005 fog light bulb swap.

1 was enough for me. Too bright and that would be annoying. These LEDs have a 30 spread which is enough and pretty wide coming from the overhead console.

I didn't want lights everywhere. I only wanted the light to be in the cup holders and the tip of the arm rest so light shines in there when I open it too.

More info/pics/videos in the other thread as soon as I get my interior back from LXHarness. :joe:
