Paint Job Quality

 ~3mm in length on the driver's side roof area.

there's about 2 more that's half the size on other parts of the JGC. So much for prepping the body before paint.

Re: Paint Job Quality

Is that a paint over body imperfection or paint chip-flake failure?

Paint quality was great on my '11 Overland, panel fitment not so much.

Re: Paint Job Quality

Paint overall seems good on mine, except for a small mark on the tailgate. Probably due to dirt or some particle under the paint.

Wasn't a deal breaker and not worth repainting/correcting.

My 07 SRT-8 was not quite as good.

found several more - seems like all the big defects are on the roof - i assume they don't think anyone looks up there anyways.

this looks like a gouge at the roof rails area and some idiot used touch-up paint and a bad job at it too, plus a nice deep scratch next to it. :guns:

you tend to find a lot of stuff when you spend the past 5 hours detailing - btw i love Zaino, on my 3rd coat with Z/FX

I guess if there is a bright spot to the paint defects, its that they are on the roof, and not elsewhere. :o

true, i am glad the sides, hood and lift gate are near 99% perfect. but i guess i expected too much when i've owned BMW's and Audi with flawless paint.

My 2010 BMW M3 Coupe that I purchased new had a lot of orange peel in the paint and had some kind of dirt spot under the paint on the r/r quarter panel. All mass produced vehicles can have defects. When I took a tour of the BMW/Mini/Rolls Royce vehicle prep center in Oxnard recently, the only vehicles that might have a great paint job is the Rolls Royce.

It's just the nature of the beast.

When I rebuilt a 74 '280 Benz, the wise body shop guy painted it with some orange peel so it would look stock.

I believe there is a TSB for paint problems.

Sorry to read about your paint issues. Mine was great from the factory. No orange peel as on past Ford fleet cars. Only problems are ones caused by my carelessness.
