How to: Wire 3157 CK LED's in 08 WK with 6 ohm Resistor

There is a lot of info on JG for wiring these, but I couldn't find it in one thread so here it goes. Bought these red 3157 ck LEDs from rob (thanks bro) and the 6 phm resistors. I have always wanted to get these for my tinted tails but was too worried about cutting my stock wiring...I got over that so I bought these and I am VERY glad I did! He had already added the aluminum plate and green wires to the resistors...this allows you to mount them away from the tails as these get vey hot. You will use the two outer wires for the resistors. Here are pictures:

Passenger side (cut orange/white and black wires)

I used 22-18 gauge butt connectors. They fit perfectly with the respective outer wires twisted together. I thought they would be too small but the fit perfectly. I added them to the ends of the resistor wires and added the plasctic loom around the wires for protection :D

Then I stripped the outer wires and connected the resistors, using heat shrink over the butt connectors then electrical tape over that. I never half-ass wiring, my electrician friend taught me that, and il highly suggest you don't either. It makes my very nervos cutting my stock wiring so if I am going to doit I'm going Tom do it right. Here are pics of the resistors installed

Here is a video in the sun to show how much brighter the LEDs are...guess which side it the LEDs are installed?

And here is a video of the final product. I mounted the resistors using double sided tape, cleaning the aluminum plate and inner fender with 91% alcohol first to ensure they stayed put...it all depends on how long u make your wires for the resistors, but I would recommend at least a foot off either end to give you enough slack to mount them low...

Final note...these bulbs may need to be flipped 180 degrees as the polarity does matter so make sure you test them before getting all installed. Also make sure to unplug your negative terminal on your battery. Any questions just holler. Thanks again rob I love the look of these!!!

08Hemi,
Great "How To Do..." post.
As is the norm a lot of people talk about how they have added 6 ohm resistor, but a picture and explanation behind it is always worth a thousand words. :)

NICE write-up Brad!! Those look great man - looks like i need to convert to LED on the back VERY soon. Cant leave 1 bulb untouched :D

for the 05-6, you need one reg 3157 and one 3157 CK per side. one resistor as well. 6 ohm.
