disappointing sound quality on GC Laredo X 2011

Recieved my new car just recently - GC Laredo X 70ann. 2011.
It should have about 9 speakers and a subwoofer.
The sound quality is far below what I had in an Audi A4 and Volvo S80.
The sound is faint, midrange sound is fuzzy, high frequencies are not sharp and the subwoofer is not heard at all. (in previous cars the mirror was vibrating in sync with the bass)
The source i use is 192 - 320kps mp3 songs from the Media center 430N HDD.

Looking to know if there is a weak spot in all this which I may upgrade and will start to enjoy the sound quality- i mean, investing 20% in order to upgrade 80% of the sound, Or whether unfortunatelly, each of the components there are just bad ?

I would start by not listening to low quality 192kbps downloads.

0P, if you have the stock subwoofer, IME the culprit is a flimsy plastic subwoofer enclosure by Chryco even with the Alpine components. This plastic reverberates throughout the rest of the vehicle compartments causing the muddled clarity and double bass hits at volume. Check a search, there's a bunch of good threads with photos for the WK2 system.

I also found that speakers needs a little break in. At the beginning they even produced me ear fatigue. Later, sound improved, but don't expect hi-fi sound.

The JL subwoofer upgrade moosehead mentioned, with a dedicated amp, will also free some amp power for the rest of the system.

I purchased an iPod classic just for the gc to play back wav files (loss-less) converted from my flac library (loss-less)
.

I have noticed a poor sound quality as well, but it is mainly with the Sirius radio. Regular FM and HDD have much clearer sound. I wonder if an upgrade to the 430N would fix that?

Greetings,

I have the 430 and I have the same issues with Sirius. Both the 430 and the 430N is made by Mitsubishi. The problem is the radio and the sirius tuner. The best solution, is to change to an aftermarket head unit.

Best for now.:)

Join the club. It's not going to be cheap, nor easy to significantly improve the sound.
