Pricing: Be Thankful (if) You Live in the USA

I was curious about the cost of the GC in overseas markets and just checked the price in Germany of an Overland 3.6. It works out to a bit over $70,000, inclusive of the 19% VAT.

That's a heckuva lot of money, albeit for a fine vehicle. It's roughly $30K more than I paid for my V8 Overland (though my number doesn't include taxes).

What does this puppy cost in other markets outside the U.S.?

And please report in USD as some of us aren't swift enough to do the math. Thanks.

I think the gas over there is a lot more expensive also, isn't it?

That depends on which "over there".

I believe it's somewhere in the range of about $8.48/gallon for the equivalent of our 87 octane. http://gasoline-germany.com/statistik.phtml

It's nothing new. Their pricing has been far higher than ours for as long as I can remember, even well before the institution of the Euro.

But what I was wondering about was the price of the GC in different markets . . .

If you go to jeep.ca, you'll see that our prices in Canada are about 10K higher.

Here, The Limited starts at 47K and the Overland at 50K.

When I see my US brothers buying them for 40K loaded, it must be nice.
Remember, our dollars are pretty much @ par; Have been for a while.

If I was paying "cash", I would've imported one.

Cars are priced based a lot on what the market can bear not necessarily what it costs.
There are several cars made here in Canada that still costs less in the US. Examples include the Chrysler 300 and Camaros, both exclusively made in Canada yet sells for less in the US.

In Bulgaria, Europe:

Jeep GC 3.6 - $57,500
Jeep GC 5.7 - $82,200

To compare with Europe made:
BMW X5 35i - $77,800
BMW X5 30d - $74,700
BMW X5 40d - $80,600
Porsche Cayenne 2.9d - $67,800
Audi Q5 3.0TDI - $62,500
Audi Q7 3.0TDI - $74,750
Range Rover Sport 2.7TD V6 - $78,600
Range Rover LR3 2.7D V6 - $60,100
All price include local sales taxes!

No wonder why US made cars are exotic there.
