Out with old... in with new

Bought White 2012 Overland in nov 11. Love it. Long story short, a few to many scatches, a big door ding, plus a scratched winshield... I've gone years without a blemish on vehicles...that one seemed jinxed??... anyway last nights snow led to my f ing coat zipper taking out more paint today while brushing snow off the roof. Drove it in to dealer and drove home in exact same vehicle only in mineral gray.

Man, that is going to the extreme to get rid of some blimishes! I guess that is why I keep my wife in new vehicles but keep my aging truck, if it gets scratched or dinged I really don't care. Good luck on the newer ride.

Wow, wouldn't it have been cheaper to buy a buffer and some polish? FWIW, the mineral gray will show even more scratches.

Hope you enjoyed all that snow up there north of Chicago. Us folks in the southwest burbs enjoyed no snow :-) My dad in Lake Zurich said they got 7" of snow, me in Plainfield got a dusting if that which was gone by noon.

Congrats on the purchase, you can never go wrong with mineral gray!

... no my deductable is 500. state farm treats each one as a claim... got estimates on 3 different areas would have cost 1400. that was without the windshield witch i would guess is at least 300 plus?? (rain sensing wipers) anyway had one more area without an estimate... ruff guess Id be looking at 2K... in my experiance, insurance paid body /paint repairs are no where near the quality I would want.
My last car was a ford escape with there version of mineral gray... hides scatches hell of a lot better than white

This has to be a joke. Loose thousands of dollars on a trade in instead of taking it to a body shop. Really?!?!?

There is no way mineral gray will hide scratches better than white! I have a white vehicle that is my company truck that is beat all to crap but hides it well compared to my black peronel truck I baby but will show everything.

Cost me $3610.00 - aprox 1600 will come back to me in 6-8 weeks as they cancelled the extended warranty on the old one that was 3 months old...
all said and done. Cheaper than estimated repairs and I got a new jeep.
One has to know how to play dealer games. I never trade for less than blue book. In this case, blue book only goes to 2011....but I settled for that price...then having them match other dealer pricing on the new one...bam... ~2K after my check comes back. one needs to be prepared to walk away from a deal... I did just that at 2 other dealers... the 3rd one was willing to take what I was willing to spend.
Edit. I did make 2 payments on the old one so I guess that cost me another 600... in the scheme of things, it was still cheaper than renting one for three months

All I know is the Ford version of mineral gray hid dirt/ scratches a heck of a lot better then JGC white. I guess I'll find out how Jeep gray is???
BTW- had one black truck in my life and yes, it shows everything! Love the color but will never buy another

I think you were itching for a new ride. :) Hey if you can afford it go for it. Life is short - ride what you like.
