New 2012 Way out of line

I had the winter tires swapped to GY Silent Armor yesterday as we haven't really had a winter and I was experiencing a shudder/vibration but really felt that it was coming from the front left tire. I had torqued the wheel lugs maintained proper inflation and had a local shop rebalance the wheels; while that made it slightly better it was still there especially crusing on the interstate. Yesterday I told them to align it, I expected it to be pointless as it is a brand new vehicle, it wasn't. The left front and right rear were badly out of line toe in and camber were off significantly and all four needed some adjustment and I will say that there is no more shudder/vibration aside from the MDS drone. I hope a programmer comes along soon that will disable the cylinder deactivation all together, but at least I'm not worried about a drive train issue any more.

Thanks for letting others know.

I noticed the outside of my front tires wear a little faster but thats usually just because those are the leading edge when turning. I don't have any constant vibration when driving however.

Check alingment. My 2011 GC have the same wear as Yours (outside front tires) and alingment was way of. I have only 4000 miles.

Silter - How do you like the Silent Armors so far? My Winter Blizzaks whine a little on perfect pavement. Even though I really only notice it when I'm listening for it, I'm looking forward to getting some quieter 18 inch tires for the Summer.

At my first annual service dealer recommended front alignment (of course!) on my nickel (of course!). To my surprise there was slight toe in.

The Silent Armors are a fantastic tire I have run them on all of our medium and full size work trucks for years. I found that in the little snow we got this year the Jeep is a beast and really didn't need designated snow tires. My mistake!! The GY's are awesome there is very little tire noise and now the HEMI is the loudest thing in the vehicle as it should be. Our Jeep has just under 5K and there was no reason for it to be that far out of line unless it was never aligned in the first place or transported carelessly. The MDS is the most disappointing feature and I'm almost 100% sure that it is responsible for the at times sluggish response and gear hunting. I am trying to drive it aggressivley to teach the program to ACCELERATE immediately upon throttle depression sport mode and keeping the ERS in lower gears is most enjoyable, I use 4th on the ERS right up to 65 MPH. If I wanted fuel economy I would have the pentastar. Chrysler is trying to squeeze fractions of a gallon any way they can and the overall vehicle is suffering. IMO of course. FYI I don't take anything to a dealer for tires we deal with Sullivan Tire in NH commercially and I take it to them for installs and alignments I trust them and to them I'm a loyal customer and not just another guy getting tires.

Also I returned to stock dimensions with the GY's, the Blizzaks were 265x65. Also not really necessary.

Where is everyone getting alignment checked? Having the dealer check/fix it under warranty or is this a wear/tear fix yourself item.

You guys know that one pothole or trip off road can throw you out of alignment? No warranty will cover alignment and this has nothing to do with build quality. You should have an alignment done every 15k miles

I read firestone has lifetime alignments. Pay once get it for the the life you own the vehicle, runs like 120-140 and can find a coupon in the entertainment book depending on the area you live

Agreed, but in 5000 miles no modern vehicle shold all of a sudden have 3 out of four corners badly out of line. It probably wasn't built that way but new vehicles are dollied around the yard and then bound tightly to a train car which will contribute to being out of line. 15k seems a little too frequent unless you know you stuffed it somewhere I usually have it done when I replace the tires or if I know it may be out, you can also off road just fine without throwing the alignment it all depends on how you drive it.

Alot of the alignment issues happen during transit. From the factory, 1 out of say 15-20 are actually aligned. Maybe less.
