Rear hatch glass opens on it's own...

The last two times I have been sitting in a touchless car wash (including today), the rear hatch glass pops open on it's own. Only time it's ever happened. Chime goes off and rear hatch open message in evic. I obviously end up getting water in the rear cargo area, from the high pressure rinse. Anyone else have this happen?

TIA;

Dave

I thought it was only me but it looks like this could end up being a recall. Sometimes the hatch pops several times and does not stop sometimes i press the button on the outside for it to pop and nothing no response.... will address with Jeep during my first oil change visit.

Re: Rear hatch glass opens on it's own...

Had that problem a few times on my 06. Found it to be the outside tailgate switch (mine is rectangular shape, under the chrome trim to the right of the handle where you open the tailgate) switch was occasionally sticking a bit after being used (not returning to the fully released position where it should be) In any case I spray the switch with wd40 or a good lubricant spray every so often and operate the swithch 5-10 times to ensure the lubricant is well worked in and the switch is moving freely again,,, seems to work. It does come back occasionally but then i know it needs sprayed again. (not sure if the switch is just getting gunked up and sticky or the return spring in it is weak, or a combination of both maybe) I suppose the real solution would be a new swithch though

My 2012 overland rear glass starting opening by itself about two weeks ago. I would cow out to my car and it would be unlatched. Today I found that if I approached the car from certain directions it would unlatch when I had the key in my pocket. Over and over again it would guy cycle through unlatching.

I replaced the fobik battery tonight and it as not happened since.

Will update tomorrow if it happens again as it was occurring many times per day before.

It has been one week since replacing remote/fobik battery and the rear glass has not unlocked by itself. That must have fixed it?

However, the car sat for three days and the battery died. Nothing was left on.

These are really odd electrical problems. Anyone else having them?

I understand the electrical problems, my AC will kick itself on and off as it pleases, i need to have the dealership look at that i guess there may be a post for that too!
