Transmission Temp
I've had the 12 GC Overland 4x4, V8 now for 3 months and have yet to see the trans temp get above 145 degrees in the EVIC. This included city and freeway travel, no towing yet. Highest air temp was 80 degrees.

I guess this is normal?

Re: Transmission Temp
180* i believe is the highest you want to see it at.

Also 180 is considered Fully warmed up said so on the dipstick.

Speaking from my WJ days.

Re: Transmission Temp
On the Chevy and Ford forums their new 6 spds they are seeing 200 regularly with heavy grades and towing, up to 210 or more.

GM/Ford say that it is normal.

Re: Transmission Temp
I've seen mine in the 170 range when warmed up. Need to check it later this season when I tow the pop-up camper.

170s when towing. 160s otherwise

Re: Transmission Temp
It varies by transmission, some just run warmer than others. The Chrysler 4-speed turned 5-speed turned 6-speed on the 5.7 Hemi is going to run different than the old Benz 5-speed in the V6 and SRT8. I've been watching mine lately and it's been ~175 driving around with fairly cool temperatures (<80). I'm sure I checked it some over the 105+ summer days just don't remember what it was.

You need an OBDII reader to read voltage (upper right in picture, and still working on the arrangement). I have been seeing on the interstate, 70F ambient: 199-203F coolant, 183F oil, and 165 trans. temps. Oil and coolant sounds backwards.

Re: Transmission Temp
Seems about normal, mine is 140-160 if I remember correctly. Coolant when driving is 195-203 but when you slow/idle will go up to 224/226 before the fan turns on high power to bring it back down. Oil is 180-205 I think running synthetic which seems to run a little warmer then dino if thats possible. lol
