JKU Fender Care

I just got my new 2012 JKU and I love it. I had a 98 TJ and the fenders needed painted pretty bad. I was wondering if anybody knows if they have changed hwo they paint/dye the fenders to where they don't fade in the sun? Should I put anything on them to protect them?

I assume you mean black fenders. They all fade over time from the sun's UV rays. Use a good protector like 303 2-3x a month. Stay away from Armor All - it runs in the rain and collects dust.

Mother's Back to Black will bring back ones that are faded.

:D

This is my 3rd JK and i have to say that these fenders are 100 times better than my old tj's and yj's. they may fade a bit especially over the winter but you can always bring them back! And x2 on the 303 protectant!

are they black plastic fenders or colored fenders? for my black fenders i just went to a local canadian tire and picked up some plastic cleaning products for trims on a car and it worked great, really gives it that dark look to it and keeps it clean

I use spray detailer from Mquires...cleans good and gives a small amount of wax. Quick, easy and cheap

I have had good luck with the Armor All Tire Shine Extreme but I will try the Mother's product.
Thanks!

Another trick you can do is use a butane torch or heat gun and go over the flare keeping the flame from touching it. The heat will draw the oils in the plastic back to the surface and have it looking as good as new. Slow and steady though.
