k&N Air filter

What do you guys think of the stock replacement air filter vs a K&N drop in filter? Not the CAI systems, just a drop in filter. Are they worth the $40?

Do you really notice any increase in power or change in Gas mileage?

Re: k&N Air filter

you'll notice more dirt particles coming in and oil messing up your sensor.

there i said it ;)

Re: k&N Air filter

I have run them in past vehicles including my 2002 chevy truck. The only difference I ever got was a slightly faster throttle response. I do not plan on ever putting one in any more vehicles including my new GC.

Re: k&N Air filter

I read the concerns re: the K&N filter and decided to go with the aFe Power Pro Dry S Air Filter instead. You just vacuum it or use water and soap to clean it, no oil.

Amen! That statement is nothing but the plain truth.

But it will make your Jeep sound faster.

Re: k&N Air filter

I've sent emails to K&N and CAI if they have basic dyno # before and after...not a single reply...

Re: k&N Air filter

Pick up a dry filter like the AFE replacement, it will last longer then the OEM, which isn't cheap anyways. Also should have better airflow (less restrictive)

Re: k&N Air filter

is this the AFE you are reffering to?
http://www.amazon.com/aFe-MagnumFLOW...ar=1&carId=001

Is this cleanable like the K&N? or is this a one time use filter?

Edit: Never mind, didn't read the full description.

Where did all this hate for K&N filters come from recently? People (including me) have been running them for years and somehow I've missed all the stories of "messed up sensors"...
