Diesel fuel additives

The other day while I was at the auto parts store I saw some diesel fuel additives. Does anyone else use these or have any recommendations? I have seen a few test in diesel power and stuff that show that it actually improved mpg and stuff, just wondering if anyone else had any experience with them.

I've been using this one for about a year now

The options in small town canada are limited. :)

I believe Redline makes a diesel additive that the Sprinter owners swear by, but I think I've only seen it in the US.

Make sure you buy something that is Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel (ULSD) compatible and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) compatible.

The Spicer Report is an often cited and argued objective measure on TDIClub...

I have been using Opti-Lube XPD in my Golf for a little over a year and can absolutely tell a difference in engine smoothness and mpg (~+2) with it. US diesel is notoriously variable in quality and unanimously poor in lubricity with ULS standards. If I had one of those fancy new SFU's on a train right now, I'd have XPD in the tank from its maiden voyage to its final gasp of air.

Hey guys,

Some of my friends that have diesel engines, add 2 cycle oil in there diesel tanks. They say this is the best diesel additive since it lubricate the diesel fuel pump.

Any comments?

THX,

Isaac

I used to use some type of additive in my diesel motorhome and it seemed to make a difference especially in the colder months. I plan on using it when I get mine.

We use Power Service in our Liberty brother in laws F350 and we use it in our Cat/Cummins Mixers at my work.

I used to use Power Service on my tdi jetta...still debating if I will use it on the jeep.

Cold starting hasnt been a problem in 1 degree weather. I guess it adds lubricity and cetane levels too though.

Do most eco diesel drivers use additives? I'm worried about voiding that warranty. Dealership didn't know the answer to my question on that one.

Re: Diesel fuel additives

I dont think it will void any warranty. You need to use a regular additive in any diesel fuel in cold temps to prevent the fuel from gelling. Just follow the directions for use on the white bottled power service additive and youll be fine.

We've been selling a lot of the white bottle Power Service products. It works extremely well below 30 degrees.
