I have a 98 GC Laredo. While trying to install a set of aftermarket back-up lights I shorted or fried something.
I tapped the aftermarkets into the factory wire, did pass side and everything was fine. Did driver side and everything went straight down the toilet. Now I have NO back-up lights AT ALL, NO turn signals, AND my "mini" overhead console also quit working.
My running lights and brake lights as well as license plate light all work. All interior and dash lights work. Factory keyless entry and security system all work. All my dash gauges work.
I've checked and or replaced all the fuses (behind the kick panel and under the hood). I've changed the relays, and replaced the nuetral safety switch.
I've looked over the wiring schematics (for what I can understand of them) and can't figure how these (back-up, turn, overhead) are all connected.
Could it be maybe I knocked a ground loose? (the diagram does show one near the driver side rear light)
Does the "body control module" come into play?
ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
Re: electrical gremlin
very interesting. I dont have any schematics here but interested in what you did on the driver side. Did you hear a pop, smoke..anything or did you just go to test the lights and all was gone?
