Really annoying sound.

Ok so I have accumulated over the months a very annoying sound. As I am driving highway the sound is gone when I am going around right hand turns and it is slightly there when I go straight but it hits hard when I am going around left turns. its like a constant who who who who who. Literally say that over and over and over. Could this be a bearing issue???? I have used tires on now and I am getting Grabber AT2's soon. What is the issue.....:eek:

Could certainly be wheel bearings - these are the most likely sort of "humming" sound to be affected by shifting the weight of the vehicle by turning.

If you jack it up, you may be able to feel play in the wheel bearings by garbbing the tire and applying some force to it.

Not too bad of a job, but they aren't the cheapest to replace (as you have to swap out the whole hub assembly).

Front are more likely than rear.

If its loder on left turns i would say its your right hub bearing.

The safest answer would be as little as possible!

If it is the wheel bearings, you can imagine what would happen if the component were to fail.

The noise associated with a failed wheel bearing progressively gets worse. If it is a very slight hum, I would say you have some time. If you can feel any play in the wheels when it is jacked up, or the noise sounds really bad, I would tackle it straight away.

Safest thing is to get it taken care of, but they usually give fair warning before catastrophic failure.
