Towing - Ball hitch, how much of a drop?

I have the 20" wheels and QL - so with the hitch, is 2" or 3.5" drop is good for towing 2 jet skis?

a Jetski trailer is pretty low, I'd probably go with a 3.5. I use that size drop even on my 18ft. You want to try to get it level, but if you already have a 2" you can use that too.

drop where? the tounge of the trailer should be level to the hitch as to not create a v the tounge should not point up or down. QL is automatically load leveling so it should take care of that for you when loaded if the tounge is still at an angle you need to get an adjustable hitch. Most popular auto shops have them they are aluminum and the hitch is mounted to an adjustment plate that slides into the receiver. You should never tow with the trailer tounge not level.

^^ should do the job. I use this however... http://www.amazon.com/Softride-25219...1849084&sr=8-3

Takes the slight slop out so it doesn't make crazy towing noises.

Have a 5.5" drop on mine and it should be 6" for the trailers to be near level.

The size of the trailer and the tires on that trailer should dictate the size of a drop you need. A 5.5 and/or 6" drop wouldn't be adequate for all trailers IMO. NEK what type of trailer are you pulling?

A standard utility and snowmobile trailer. Have been trailering for years. It needs a larger drop when looking at the connection with the trailers.

Interesting. My 2nd bedroom (a teardrop) wants the hitch to be at 12" to be level. To be at 12" I need a 9" drop. With a 3.5" it is 4 degrees off level on an 8 foot beam.

If my common tow was a short tandem (e.g. U-haul), I can see this would make a difference but not sure how much in a longer one, say a 24 ft car trailer. Anyone who pulls a tandem care to comment ? Mine are all single axle.

It all depends on the dia. of the trailer wheels. A 8" wheeled trailer will need a lower drop than a 14" wheeled trailer. It also depends on how the trailer axle is set up. I use a standard hitch with a 2" drop with a trailer with 13" wheels and everything is level. I have 18" wheels on the JGC.:D
