Re: Roof Rack Removal Question??

the screws will technically cover the holes...but you may not like the look. Most of us have bought the SRT roof rack delete covers. The are a pretty flat strip. If you want to add those and dont like the black....we have a vendopr here that will smooth and paint them for you. daniels tinted tails

Re: Roof Rack Removal Question??

FYI, just the screws alone is not a water tight seal.

Re: Roof Rack Removal Question??

the stock screws that it mounts with wont screw in flush with the rack removed and wont be water tight as said above. I just went to the hardware store, matched the thread and bought chrome 3/4'' bolts and rubber washers, seals perfect if you dont want to go in on the srt8 rails.

^^^ X2. I used the GM universal plugs with a good amount of black silicone sealant to plug the holes. I did have a water leak at one of them on the drivers side front where water would drip from the grab handle inside so I removed the plugs and added more silicone, and it fixed the leak and no more water. It was like $3 for two packs of the plugs at Advance Auto Parts near me. Can always use the small color match paint to paint the plugs to match your car color. IMO it looks much better than having the flat black plastic srt rails on.

On mine there are marks left on the roof from the roof rack rails where they sat on the roof, I was able to remove most of the marks with the Clay Bar. And touch up paint was needed on the metal inserts seen in the pic. Completely fill the hole with silicone sealant then insert the fastener and clean up any squeezed out sealant with a wet towel, you want it nicely sealed or it prob will leak like mine did.

Re: Roof Rack Removal Question??

you guys should use black flat screw top bolts, the matching thread will prevent any leaks and you wont have to worry about resealing.
