Neat Gadget
Since the invisible needles force me to keep the EVIC on MPH and I do not want to keep my laptop on the OBD-11 port allatime, I just found a very interesting gadget from Chrysler Parts, an Ecometer.

Now back in the day these were just a vaccuum gauge and while driving on IMAP reading is possible, it is not interesting.

This thingie plugs into the OBD port and according to the literature:
• The Ecometer reads current fuel economy, average fuel economy, RPM, and vehicle speed (looks like choice of one but may flip)
• The red, amber, and green lights indicate how well you are doing at keeping the vehicle in the most fuel efficient driving mode

p/n 8ECO9000 says "This fits your 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE" & installs in 24 minutes.

My only question is where does it mount ? Visible space is at a premium.

Re: Neat Gadget
From the looks of it, I would say the top of the steering colum.

Re: Neat Gadget
Think on top of the steering column it would block the bottom of the EVIC even with the wheel all of the way down. Frankly, the only place I can see that does not block something would be on the side of the console by the driver's right knee.

Is why I was wondering if anyone has seen the instructions r has them available ?

Re: Neat Gadget
Do you have a 6 or 8? If you're looking to be a hyper-miler, good luck ;)

Re: Neat Gadget
torque app on smart phone and bluetooth dongle would likely provide that info plus additional info as well

Re: Neat Gadget
I can see my needles fine, and keep my EVIC on the mpg screen = free and no unsightly addons.

Re: Neat Gadget
Instead of the laptop, think about a smart phone app if you have one. For about the same price as the meter you can get an iPhone or iPad app that does the same thing and more. I'm sure ODB readers are available for just about any smart phone, some may even be BT so you won't have dangling wires, but the ODB WiFi models work much better for real time data gathering, worth the extra cost IMHO.

Re: Neat Gadget
Have BT dongle on way but so far have not been able to download Torque to my tablet. Google apps store keeps saying I do not have an android phone which is true, I have an Android tablet.
