730N RHR - Radio HDD Spinning w/Jeep Turned "Off"

Maybe I just overly sensitive after my recent SW upgrade experience, but I swear I've not noticed this before:

The Radio's HDD keeps spinning even after the Jeep is turned off. Seems to average about 60 seconds (no big deal), but on two occasions in the last couple days I notice the HHD was spinning more than several minutes later (a bigger deal). It's not the CDRom/DVD drive - no disc inserted.

Maybe this is same as always, maybe the HDD is running louder than before, maybe the SW upgrade (which had issues) has "broken" something?

Any ideas??

Can anyone speak as to whether these units have mechanical hard drives or solid-state drives? I have always assumed (because of the small capacity) that they were SSDs. I had thought the sounds in the unit were cooling fans bringing the temperature down after use.

Mine has done the same thing since I got the jeep. No upgrade.

These are definitely robust mechanical drives - not SSD.

Maybe it is a fan! Not sure there is one in the unit, however... Temps here have been very much warmer than usual lately. Hmm.

There is a fan that you can sometimes hear, especially when the car is first turned off. The drive is rotational, older IDE type, samsung I believe. You would not hear it spin unless defective, however.

The unit is basically a computer, and the noise that you are hearing is a cooling fan dong its job.

I was not previously able to see where the fan was positioned on these units.

Found a good shot:

True. But I can plainly hear the head seeks when the engine is shut off.

I don't hear HD noise, head seeks or otherwise, radio on/off, car running or in ACC. I have on occasion heard the fan. I also hear the AC adjusting vent flows on occasion after turning the car off. When the engine is first shut off, the car remains in "ACC" mode for minutes (as you have set it via the EVIC) or until a door opens. So the radio is not off until you open a door.... I don't think the is ever really off, think of it more of sleeping.
