2008 Trade In towards Leftover 2011 Overland

I found a dealer that has a few leftover 2011 Overlands. They were asking $38,999, down from and MSRP of $46,685.

Wondering what to expect for trade in value on a fully loaded 2008 Limited WK. Clean carfax.

5.7L, DVD Entertainment, tow package, 18" Wheel option. 97K miles. Good to excellent conditon.

It depends on how much you owe if anything plus how much they will give you for yours. You dont want to have whatever you have left over from what they give you for your truck to be tacked onto the newer one. Been there done that hated it.

Check the value on nada, kbb, edmunds etc.. Get a final sale price then talk trade. I hate when te first thug they as is " do u have a trade". In other words, " how far can we bend u over". I ordered mine without trading but the car I would have traded may end up beig my commuter car if i move farther from work to be closer to fam...and if not its a rice rocket that I could easily sale to teenagers for more than I woulda got on trade...

They wouldn't budge on the price of the car and offered me $13K for my trade which was below fair condition KBB.

I chuckled and told the salesman that they weren't even close. I thought $15k would be a fair trade in price.

They still have the car sitting on the lot and I spoke with them about 3 weeks ago, so I might call and see if they are interested in giving me a little more for my car.

That's a decent price on an Overland. Your 08 has high mileage. KBB is always quite high. I've been able to get KBB price a few times, but that was a few years ago. Edmunds seems more realistic. Dealers typically go by "black book", and nock a grand or 2 off that for the initial price. If they think you are serious, I'm sure they will work with you.

Dealer trade-in are the worst, they will always quote you some BS number and say it's wholesale pricing...blah, blah...good luck!

Mileage is high. Take it to CarMax and they'll give you a good benchmark price. Then ask your dealer to make the trade at that price plus $1000. I've done my last two trades that way and it was fair to me, a Jeep dealer and a BMW dealer.

Never thought of CarMax, guess I will take a ride up there tomorrow.

Thanks.

They wouldn't budge and I couldn't have been more serious.

Had approved financing and told them I would leave with the car if they could work with me.

I did the same thing last time I was in for service...had a loaded overland I wanted, and without bargaining they were going to give me $20k for my jeep (2wd 2008 5.7L overland with 33k miles at the time) and had the Overland well below $40k like you said...I owe $4k on my Jeep and bought it from them, so they maybe were "hooking" me up a little.

Your mileage is high...I would say $14-15k minimum...keep us posted if you do this

The price is a little high, IMO. I think you could get a '12 for close to that price. I don't have the HEMI, but I paid $36k for my overland 5months ago.
