billet tech catch can install issues?

1 Attachment(s)
Has anyone installed the catch can with Z bracket from billet tech? I got mine and installed it but the z bracket doesnt leave enough space for the bottom of the catch can to be unscrewed and drained when its installed and leveled. The bottom of the can touches the wires/hoses routed to the engine...

If the z bracket only had like 1/4 - 1/2 inch more clearance it would be spot on.. Im trying to work with them to correct the issue unless someone else had any ideas!

I installed mine this morning and I'm thinking I will never have to dump it. After driving about 2 miles and opening the hood 1 hr later it was hotter than a 2 bit pistal. lol

One month later there is some oil in the bottom.

Got mine ordered today. I didnt order any extra hoses though, will this be a problem? Im sorry, but having 200 bones in a catch can and blingy hoses seems pretty pricey.

the ones they come with are good enough, they wont suck in they are pretty solid. I havent had any problems with mine and been on for almost 1,000 miles

Billet Technology has become so popular now they are simply price gouging at this point. Over 2 years ago I bought a black one, with the braided lines, for my WK1 for $110. I just bought a similar type device for my Shelby that even includes a nice valve opening bottom drain as opposed to a simple screw off like the Billet, and it was only $100 (plus it's carbon fiber patterned.)

$200 for a black can with the "nicer" lines and bracket is ridiculous, and part of the reason I refuse to buy one right now.

Got the can mounted. The included hoses were fine and look factory which I like. I just got the basic satin can and it almost looks polished. So what did that preserve me, an extra 5 horse 5 years from now as opposed to not using one :D

No. Guys have been spacing them out with washers and picking up a longer bolt. Looks like about 1/2"-3/4" of spacer needed for the 2013 covers from the pics I've seen. I don't like the 2013 cover, they don't look even on the front end from side to side.

Here is what I did on 2013. I think it came out pretty nice. Use this location on either a 2012 or 2013, but the coil pack covers are 100% in the way on a 2013 for the normal installation. The Z bracket is mounted to the PCM mount. The slotted hole is already there. Nut, fender washer, stop nut and your in business. It fills the gap that is there and it is easy to unscrew the can.
