Wrong Magnaflow

So last week I went to my local muffler shop and ordered a maganflow muffler 12589(5x11x22 with 3" openings). They said it would be in on Tuesday and they'd call me. Well I never got a call from them so I called them yesterday afternoon and was told it was in. So I go there this morning and he comes out with a magnaflow and I notice it's not the correct part # on the box. I question him on it and he says his supplier didn't have the one I ordered so they sent that one instead 12259(5x8x18 with 3" openings). I told him I didn't appreciate not being told they had the wrong muffler. He said "Let's put this one on and if you don't like it, I'll try to get the other one." I know some wk owners have put the smaller case mufflers on but it is loud as hell(Joe would like it). The interior resonance is deafening at all speeds 20,30,40,50. He called 2 suppliers and they said it would be next week before he'd receive the correct one. He never offered to put the stock back on. I've used this guy 4-5 times now and he usually does a good job. Just wanted to vent.

0-65 with windows up. i've had flowmasters, pro-flow, borla, and now magnaflow. this is not my 1st performance muffler/cat-back. i expect it to be louder than stock but the resonance never dies down.

You left the reso on?

It's because your current muffler is so narrow .. it's the 8" width compared to the 11" width that's making most of the difference... I want to put an 18" muffler on but the dimensions they gave you might be too narrow.

it was $157 installed. i know the 5x11x22 is what comes in the catback system so that's why i ordered it. he said the supplier was out of them and sent that one instead. he's going to change it next week. it isn't too big of deal but if i hadn't seen the box(part#), they never would have told me. that kind of ticks me off. i let him know about it.

Re: Wrong Magnaflow

Anyone know the correct magnaflow number for the 4.7 if im using the stock exhaust? I'd most likely go with the 5x11x22 since I use it for work sometimes and it cant sound like a stock car.

Here is the link: http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=8062

P/N - 12579

This muffler shouldn't bother you at all.. leave the resonator on. But I do think IMO that you should have an intake to compliment it... air in/air out....
