Stripping painted rims

i primed and painted my 2010 limited 18'' wheels with spray paint before I was ever introduced to plasti-dip. My question is; is there any way to strip this paint off and return them to chrome without damaging the plastic because they're the chrome clad finish. I'm thinking about using an organic based stripper that shouldn't mess with the plastic either that or get a scraper, sand paper and get to work.

If anyone has done this or has any tips for me that'd be great

I have NOT done this, but i suggest you DONT use a scraper or sand paper cuz the chrome wont like it! I've had a ton of luck with using brake cleaner to remove paint, even from plastic lights, but i know my chrome clad wheels look crappy when they get even just degreaser on them. so far they've cleaned upbut.... you could try it on the spare 1st to see.
