Adding 4 Hellas to the roof last week

There are the basic 55W 500 series driving lights. They are bright but not quite as bright as I had expected. I am saving up for a new bumper now and I'll definitely go with the bigger ($$$) IPAA lights on that. These aren't bad for supplementing my hi-beams though. I am hoping to put two fog lights inside the grill in the near future. Gotta save some cash first!

Yeah I heard that's a law in CT too.

Never had a problem here. Heck, last night I was testing them out (read that as showing them off) and blasted them right into an on coming cop car's cab. I could see his pissed off face. He didn't pull me or anything though so I figure I'm okay.

ok, i just wanted to post it because it is a primary offense in many states so you can be pulled over just for that.

Back on my jeep liberty i had 4 hella 500s on the roof just like that, never put stone guards of covers on them, never once got bothers by the cops. and i'm in ct.

Thanks for the heads up...I think I'm good in NC but I'll check surrounding states since I do travel in this thing.

Awesome job, looks real good. How hard was the install?

Thanks Jven.

The hardest part was running the power and wiring the switches right.

I had to first get some good quality high strand count 12 gauge wire so I could just run two wires up there (and I still have support for a few more lights, realistically).

I ran it through the back hatch, down the inner stripping, then under the trim to the driver's side. Then I used an existing grommet on the passenger side of the firewall to get into the engine bay for power. I went behind the center console/dash area and along the bottom of the hush panel to meet everything right at the switches. I had originally wanted to drill into the roof at the rack mount but after dropping the headliner and seeing those SRS curtain airbags staring at me I decided not to risk it. Those things are expensive!

I had to get a few different sized connectors but it is definitely done right.

I soldered all connections and taped them up really well. This is 100% safe. Definitely better than my old Cherokee's stock wiring. That was such a hoax!

It took me about 8 hours for everything. I used Warn light mounts to attach the lights to the yakima rack and that made things really easy. No drilling or anything.
