My 2012 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit's Media Center 730N USB doesn't recoginize a thumb drive. Any suggestions?

Which USB port are you using? The one on the unit itself, or the one in the armrest?

Just make sure you have at least 1 mp3 or mp4 in the Root Directory and the media center will recognize it. Same with loading photos. I keep my music files and photo files on the same 16GB thumbdrive, with an Abba song file in the root drive (so when that song plays, I know the media center has recognized the drive).

Be patient, the more files on the thumbdrive the longer it takes for it to sync to the media center (sometimes several minutes).

Personally, I downloaded all the files from the thumbdrive onto the HDD.

And don't expect any of the album art for files downloaded from a thumbdrive to show on the media center. Only files downloaded from the original CD, and even then only CD's released prior to April 2011 (the latest Gracenotes update available for the 430 or 730 series radios) will display album art. Do a forum search if you want more info on this issue, it is quite involved.

Don't ask why, this is just how it works....

Re: My new Jeep Grand Chreokee USB Problem
If the worthy advice posted so far on this thread doesn't resolve your issue, you might check out for a worst-case scenario.

So far it seems I'm the only one who has wound up with genuinely dead USB ports (after a failed GN update). But before pursuing a replacement (= seemingly refurbished) radio, you or your dealer might upload or reload v2.120 firmware. I think there's a good chance this would resolve it if both your USB ports are acting up.

If only one port is acting up and using different sticks doesn't help, you may have a hardware problem.

Also make sure the USB drive is formatted as FAT32
