Missing part???
Had an oil change yestereday at my regular mechanic. Overall he was complimentary of the JGC but he pointed out to me my JGC does not have a trans dipstick. Did Chrysler quit putting in a dipistick to measure trans fluid levels to save money or was mine just forgotten at the plant.

Re: Missing part???
Not sure about your 2011, but the 2012 owners manual states that:

Fluid Level Check - 3.6L Engine

"Regular fluid level checks are not required. For this reason, the dipstick is omitted."

"If you notice fluid loss or transmission slippage or malfunction, have your authorized dealer check the transmission fluid level."

So, looks like no dipstick on the 6 cylinder...

Re: Missing part???
This is common on many vehicles these days. Ford has been doing it for years now and I'm sure other vehicles have as well, especially on SUV's and cars. Trucks usually have them because of the increased work load on them (towing, etc.). The JGC with the V8 has a dipstick probably because of those reasons.

Re: Missing part???
2011 V6 also has no tranny dipstick.

Re: Missing part???
So we have to depend on the EVIC?

Re: Missing part???
They've been leaving them out of most Jeeps since 2007 or so, saying owners cause more damage than good checking oil, often overfilling or filling with the wrong fluid. If there are no leaks, don't worry about it.

I dunno about the mercedes transmission, but the chrysler V6 transmission level can be check by removing the dipstick tube cap and using a universal 9336 dip stick. The dip stick is inserted until it touches bottom and then the oil level is compared to ranges in the service manual. My V8 has a standard tranny dip stick.

Re: Missing part???
I figured as much, a mechanic has to have someway to check the transmission level. I have been tempted to try and remove the cap but have not done it yet.
