Oil light above 2000 RPM

The 2007 CRD I just bought has the oil pressure light that goes on and off while driving. Usually it turns on at the highway when revving over 2000 rpm, it stays on while above this RPM and then turns off when I slow down. I didnít notice this while test driving it but I might have been too exited to notice it. oh well!

Took it to the dealer and they are waiting for a new PCV and oil cap. I hope this will fix it. Is there something else that can create this light to come on? What about a sensor?

Thanks!

Not sure if your problem is the same as mine WAS, but here goes; the recent oil change is a hint. To remove the oil filter element, you unscrew and remove the composite filter cap, at the front, right side of the engine, the element is loosely pressed onto a center mandrel, which extends about an inch below the element. This potrusion is tapered, with an O-ring boss at the end. When I got my '08 CRD, the mandrel was broken. The tapered extension and O-ring boss wasn't there. My oil pressure light came on above 2,000 rpm, as does yours. A new oil filter cap assy fixed it. CAUTION: that light indicates low oil pressure. It's not lying to ya!

BINGO!! Can't believe the dealer did not checked this!! You would think they would check the basic things like filter the filter, right oil, etc. So disappointed!

I was about to do my oil change and this is what I found!

This is the new oil filter housing cap, part number 5175570AA. This fixed the light issue. No more oil pressure light coming on!

It is the second time I broke this thing. I'm being extra cautious, lubricating the o-rings, but still the thin plastic broke. Anybody else have this problem?

I have a similar issue in my new to me WK CRD. I decided to change the oil early because I didn't trust the dealers word they did it.

My reason for not trusting said dealer: They claimed they did a state inspection in VA and the jeep passed. It failed MD inspection for brake rotor thickness( all 4) and window tint the 2nd day after I bought it. Window tint law in VA is way more restrictive than MD, I'm not sure if brakes were the same spec in VA.

Oil drain went fine, removed filter housing to find it broken off past the filter and the ball with the small o ring in the spot it goes into in . Some plastic of the 3 little support arms for the ball are missing. I left the ball in while I cleaned the housing to find the pieces and they are not there. At this point I am assuming the dealer I bought it from that said they did an "oil change" broke it and didn't say anything. Since they claimed they did a "4x4 and differential service", I wonder if they screwed that up as well.

Now working to find one. Nearest dealer with one in stock is in PA, and the local dealers I called won't order it unless I come in in person before they close, and if I do I may get it Monday. In the meantime my primary transport is down for 5 days.
