Spare tyre rim width

Hi guys,

Does anyone know what the rim width is of the steel spare wheel in a WK2 GC?

I know the tyre is a 245/65R18, but trying to find out if the rim is a 7" or 7.5" width. Or is it something else?

Re: Spare tyre rim width

looking at mine now and it has the following stamped on the rim.
Fumagalli F1 18 x 8J

I'm not a tyre rim expert but I'd read that as an 8" rim

18" diameter 8" width cant remember what the J stands for.
Think it is a speed rating.

Its 18 x 8" and the Tyre is a 265 65 18, not 245, all the best.

Our 2012 spare is a 245 x 65 x 18 - on a black steel 8J rim with a big yellow sticker on the wheel which reads DO NOT EXCEED 120KPH.
That's fine with me....
I thought i had read from other posts that the lid on the bin won't close on a 265 width tyre.

Well it does pay to actually have a look, sorry I said 265 as tyre width, I stand corrected they are 245, I feel a bit ripped off now, hope I did not cause any grief.

Thanks guys ... 8J means it is an 8" width with a standard J profile wheel flange. Cool!

So the good news is that means a 265/60r18 will fit on the spare rim, as that size tyre needs a minimum 7.5" rim. Means we arent stuck with trying to find a 245/65r18 if we need to replace the spare tyre.

I thought I read somewhere that the 265 will fit in the well, and the lid would close but it's a tight fit.

Savvas, you are right, Cooper a/t3 265/60r18 will fit spare wheel well, jeep supplied FOC for my 2011 JGC as they specify A/T tyres in their spec sheet.

Will the lid close and latch.
Mine has a switch on it if the lid is not closed I get a warning light.
If the switch is disconnected the car will not start.

My Laredo does not have a switch. It closes fully, it's difficult to measure the clearance between the tyre and the lid.
