What kind of MPG should I be getting?

2006 WK, 3.7L. I live in a suburb and do almost no highway driving and the computer says I'm getting like 10.5-10.8 MPG on average. Should I be doing better or is this just how it is with WKs?

X2 ^^^ with my Hemi, and I drive mine like I stole it. Give us all the facts.....how many miles, last complete tune up, type of spark plugs installed, type of oil used, any mods such as lifts/big tires, racks, etc., and driving style? You should be getting ~14 plus around town with an un-modded 3.7.

No I don't drive very hard, I just bought it in February (from a dealer) so I haven't personally taken it in for a complete tune up, not sure what type of spark plugs are in there (how can I tell?), I just had the oil changed last week , I'll find out what type was used. No mods, lift, big tires etc.
Edit: ~75,300 miles on it.

If you just bought it and you dont have the service history just do yourself a favor and give the Jeep a full tune up (plugs, all fluids, air filter, etc) That is likely your MPG issue

A very definite X2 ^^^. Any more the average driver just drives them until a light comes on. They're like....tune up, fluid/filter service, what's that??? If it had been serviced by a dealer, also be wary, as many of them are no better (and sometimes worse) than the kids at Jiffy Lube.

New plugs needed and a battery reset. I get 17 in town with my v8

Sounds good. Thanks fellas, I'll buy all that stuff this week and do it up.

also, did you reset the MPG counter? if the person before you never used it, you might be looking at an average of years of misuse and shitty driving. try resetting it by scrolling to the mpg and hitting the reset button and then let it go for a day.

your current count is definitely low though. aside from everything mentioned so far, be sure that your tire pressure is correct as well.

Re: What kind of MPG should I be getting?

best I ever got on my 07 3.7L WK (AWD) was 18mpg. That was highway driving with cruise control (it does make a difference) otherwise is around 15-17mpg. It's crappy for a V6-- blame all the extra weight of the WK combined with the engine built for the KJ.

as soon as I get my air intake and exhaust project finished I'm getting her re-programmed for hopefully better performance, not sure if better mpg will be a part of the perf boost though...

Re: What kind of MPG should I be getting?

around town im getting roughly 13.5 and highway the best iv gotten is 16.8 with the hemi. intake and exhaust should let it breath a little better. consider those things.
