hi everyone,

my name is blanca and i recently purchased a 06 Jeep commander, love my new vehicle . but in the last couple of days its been making a clunk/thump noise when shifting gears from P to R and from D to P. does anyone know what maybe be causing this. im freaking out thinking my trani or motor are baout to go out and no warranty. please help a lady in disstress.....

so with your foot on the brake you shift from park to R or D and there is a clunk.

what motor/mileage?

most likely something to do with rest of drivetrain...not the motor or the trans.

could be the one of the driveshafts or pinions.

i would think a good trans place could help you figure it out rather than a stealer.

we also have known issuew with front pinion mounts in the grand cherokee from that era so may be similar for the commander. the bushing goes bad. this is a very common failure for the GC.

Might be the front differential isolator bushings - i think there's a thread in here somewhere..

1st of all thank you for replying back so quickly
its a V8 4.7 and it has aroung 10500 miles. another question i had a pontiac Aztek prior to the Jeep and at one point i received a letter form pontiact lettting me know that there was a recallon their fuelpumps and the reapir wil be paid by them. is there a way to find out the same from Jeep, wheather its a manufature default?
