3.7 custom cold air intake project

okay so i made another thread, i know, but this one, umm.. has pictures! lol..

oh and yes i know my engine bay is dirty.. i know!

so there is a really long intake story behind this, i will just sum it up for you guys..

i went to a new place that i have always wanted to try it, it is really sketch, but i figured i would try it and see what happens, they quoted me a low price on the intake, so i booked an appointment to get that done..

after waiting 6 hours, driving back and forth, getting impatient, the ending result after they brought around my truck looked something like this..

now if you ask me, a 6 hour, $350 dollar job, should look a little better then this, no?

after talking to some friends on their opinion, and just complaining to my friends all night, i went back the next morning and asked for a 45 degree pipe, and decided to do it myself, the guy said i needed a 90, and wouldn't give in to saying i was right with needing a 45, at this point i just had enough, and took the 90, and thought i could always get it cut, which i needed to do..

there was no way in hell i was gonna go back to that specific shop to get it cut, so i went to the place i usually go to, the more reliable shop lol..

i couldn't get the piece cut because he told me that cutting a pipe like that on the curved part, would mean it wouldn't be flush against the other pipe, he went into the back, and came out with a solution, pretty much just extend the pipe lower down..

right now it looks something like this..

http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/6301/1001623m.jpg

http://img682.imageshack.us/img682/1200/1001624z.jpg

http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/4919/1001621r.jpg

so right not its pretty decent, looks reasonable, and im happy with how it turned out after some work..

i also have a 45 degree pipe and a 180 pipe that i will be picking up sometime early next week, and ill be extending the filter right down to the bottom for daily driving to school and what not, and the odd time i take it off road ill be sure to switch it back to this setup..

ill also be painting sometime soon, not sure what color, any opinions? or just sanding it down to give it a rough look! :P

You spent all that time and money on that?!?!!? Dude you got ripped. Hell, I could have done that and something better for about half of that price.

Anyhow, it looks pretty good. skip all that extra piping because its useless. What you need to do instead is shield that intake from all the heat of the engine bay. Get some Cool tape from summit racing, wrap that sucker up, and call it a day.
