Hand Prints on Windshield

I think my dealer thinks I'm crazy. There are four hand prints on the windshield that I can't clean off. Two of which are directly in my sight when driving. Most of the time they aren't visable but in the morning sun when I'm going to work or late in the afternoon they are perfectly visable. They drive me nuts. I'v tried everything inside and out to remove them including a razor blade. I've had it at the dealer and they don't see it. They obviously aren't looking at it into the morning sun. Anyway, I am determined it is between the laminations of glass. Anyone have any suggestions? I will try to get a picture but I don't think is will work very well.

The best thing to use to clean your windshield is newspaper and the ammonia based cleaner of your choice. If that doesn't get it off nothing will.

I suppose it could be between the laminations. If that's the case I doubt that your dealer will ever "see" it. They tend to have very poor eyesight when looking at a warranty repair.

Bitch enough to get a regional rep down there. Maybe they will have better eyes.

What is your deductible on glass? In Mass, it's 0 deductible, no fault. Many states are the same way.
It may hurt to do, but you may need to accidentally crack your windshield to fix the problem. A new windshield can be done during the day at your work in an hour or so.

Call the local glass company and they can often help out as well.

No reason to commit insurance fraud for a manufacturing error. :slapfight:

It's not fraud when the drivers vision is impaired by a imperfection of the windshield.

It is fraud if you intentionally break a windshield then claim that it was an accident. No wonder why the insurance rates are so high in Massachusetts.

I agree with that, but it's also fraudulant if the insurance adjuster "claims" not to see it. As for the Massachusetts insurance rates...I'm sure it's the windshield replacement mandate that is skyrocketing the prices.

It's not an insurance issue. You pay an insurance company to cover you in case of an accident, theft or vandalism.

This is apparently a manufacturing defect. You pay the manufacturer for a vehicle that was built in accordance with their standards. If it wasn't, then you make a warranty claim.
