Broke PCV into engine
I am losing it. I just tried to replace the PCV valve on my 05 hemi. The thing broke in half in the can or whatever it is, then when I tried to needle nose it out all the top broke off then the ENTIRE bottom part with the metal thing fell into the hole. Also, I cracked the housing of this can. What are my options? Can I drive it? Do I have to replace the ENTIRE black valve top?

Re: Broke PCV into engine
if you have a strong wet vac, try and suck it out with that. I'm not sure how far it can drop in there so I dont know if its ok to drive like that.

Re: Broke PCV into engine
Go to the autoparts store. Right where they sell the magnets on a rod to fish metal things like this out of a motor, they will also sell a claw on a rod. Works like a syringe. Good luck.

Re: Broke PCV into engine
Ok, If I get that to work, there is no problem that I cracked the inside of the housing? Like where the bottom part of the pcv sits into this cannister...i can see i cracked it.

Re: Broke PCV into engine
There probably is, but tackle them one thing at a time. At least that's what I would do.

Re: Broke PCV into engine
ok i got the metal parts out...spring and the valve thing. I put the new one in and everything seems to be running normal. How would i know if those plastic bits from the old pcv are going to be a problem? Or also the crack in the inside of the housing for the pcv?

Re: Broke PCV into engine
BTW I used a magnet to get the metal spring and valve out. But was unable to grab any plastic bits from the broken pcv. I used two vacuums to try and get it all out. I drove it too...I hope I didn't mess it up.

Re: Broke PCV into engine
You already started and drove it. If you had a problem you would already know.

If it does end up causing you an issue let me know I have a complete manifold sitting in my garage taking up space.

Re: Broke PCV into engine
Escape thank you brotha. It runs mint. Better with the new PCV in it i'd say. How much would you want for your manifold? I'm thinking of replacing it anyway since I broke the top parts of the PCV can or whatever that is.

Just to be clear, i've drivin' it three times, and also went heavy on it a couple times and doesn't seem anything is wrong. I would know right?

Re: Broke PCV into engine
As an update, I just took her for a spin. Went slow. Listened to the powerstick exhaust and the feel of everything. Seemed stronger and more responsive. Nothing else. No new sounds, quirks, or anything really. Thanks everyone. Please keep me posted if anything comes to mind. This assembly looks as tho if something fell into it it would not get tossed into the top compartment on the side of it...where everything actually is right?
A hose and a gripper did not show any signs of anything at the bottom...but then again it's hard to use that gripper to feel. the magnet trick worked THE FIRST GO picking up both the metal valve or whatever and the spring that it was in. but no plastic. i'm guessing a chip or two from the top of where it broke off and i tried to needle nose it. and then the bottom half when i pushed the sides trying to pry it up.

Re: Broke PCV into engine
Drove it 3 times today only. No longer then 15-30 minutes. Seems normal. Anyone want to chime in as to if i'm out of the woods. Or is this something that will just devastate in a month? Thanks!

Re: Broke PCV into engine
You would more than likely know by now. Nobody can say 100% that you're fine, but more than likely you would have seen or noticed something by now. Just keep your eyes and ears open for a little bit.
