Chances of getting a 4" or 6" lift?

Hey guys,

I'm really interested in putting a real suspension lift on my wk2 eventurally. I think 35's would be awesome. I know developing a full independent suspension lift kit is difficult but I think there would be a market. Gearing options would also become a concern with larger tires and I have no idea if there are any options.

So does anybody no if/when/of anyone developing a 4" or 6" lift?

I doubt it.

The costs for engineering required to PROPERLY engineer a 4" or higher lift are prohibitive. You not only have to go through proper spring tuning, but you need to reprogram the computer for proper handling of the vehicle stability systems.

Damn, I hate how the granny technology gets in the way. I would be fine with turning it all off once but I'm sure that's more trouble then it's worth for a builder.

I've seen lifted independent suspensions before. Actually here's a kit for the nissan armada which is full independent and not a bad price either http://www.jcwhitney.com/rancho-susp...DetailTabPanel

The Grand Cherokee is so computerized, disabling the stability controls would probably make the vehicle very unhappy.

The profit margins just arent there for a 4" lift on a WK2. Sure someone could cobble together a lift, but truly tuning a suspension system for ride comfort, stability, and handling is a cost prohibitive. Talk to some of the AEV guys about how much engineering goes into a good lift kit, all for sales of just a couple hundred units at MOST.

^^^I guess that's the biggest issues is if there will be a market. I'm really not sure on that myself.

I have a hard time thinking there will be enough demand for a real lift for these things. I think the aftermarket companies will just continue to focus more on the wranglers for that stuff. Although I don't think I would lift mine more than what I have now, I'm with you - I think it would be really cool for someone to produce a good 4 or 6" lift for the WK2. Thank god for Rocky Road b/c no one else has done sh*t for these things!!! The suspension travel is really limited on these WK2's so I would like to see some more options as well.

^^^ Ya the lack of after market support for these things is very disappointing. I spent some more time looking around and they have lifts for the Ford expeditions as well. Full independent, and i wouldn't think there would be much demand for that as well. I'm crossing my fingers they'll come out with a kit. I bet within 2 years there will be a kit. When/if they do I'll be one of the first in line to purchase :D
