Radio Replacement Question

Hello All,

I have a 2008 Laredo and I am looking at replacing the factory radio. I went to best buy to look at radios which is a crime in itself but the guy showed me a nice radio and it was what I have in mind but then he tells me I need this 75 dollar by pass kit. I basically want the capability to stream music thru the radio and then upgrade from there over time. Its a touch screen double din. Bottom line do I need this 75 dollar adaptor? He stated i needed it because of the security system in the jeep. (all factory)

Thanks,
Steve

he was on the right path, i work for bestbuy as well, i'm an installer not a sale guy so chances are good i'll help you much more.

In a 2008 larado you'll need a few parts to get a new radio into the vehicle. First off i'll need to know what system you have the vehicle, Boston acoustic or Not. Steering wheel controls?

Re: Radio Replacement Question

No BA and no steering wheel controls at least not for the radio.

Re: Radio Replacement Question

Since you are doing a double din you will need:

Metra 95-6511 Dash Kit
Metra 40-EU10 Antenna Adapter
Metra XSVI-6522-nav Harness.

Id rec buying them off amazon or something, will save you a nice chunk of coin vs buying from BBY.

The newer WKs are similar towards gm vehicles for radio replacement. Older GMs, use a $100 data module when replaceing the radio, theres is a bit more integrated with the onstar and door chimes and such.

Its not too bad, the harness will help though in other aspects, gives you a parking brake output as well as reverse trigger if you add a backup cam.
