Perforated Seats W/O Cooling?

All,

Anyone know if it is possible to order perforated seats on a new Jeep Grand Cherokee without also needing to add the $1600 lux group 2 package that comes with active cooling, a heated steering wheel, etc? All I really want is the passive cooling of the perforated seats - but it doesn't look like I can have that alone? Any other aftermarket options out there? Thanks!

Factory: no. Aftermarket: I'm sure it's possible from a company like Katzkin. But for the money you'll spend (I have no idea what it would cost - it may be reasonable), you may just want to consider the lux group; especially when it comes time to sell the truck.

The seats with the Lux group have Napa leather which is better than the Capri Leather that comes standard. The Capri Leather has vinyl on the sides which can tear (it did in my my '05 Limited). The Lux group leather has protein-vinyl on the edges which I assume is stronger than vinyl.

Thanks for the feedback. Yea I considered the lux group, but at that point it seems like you might as well jump up to the overland :)

What is "protein-vinyl"?

Protein vinyl is made from soybean (or other oil-producing vegetation) protein or a blend of soybean proteins and poly(vinyl) alcohols to make a stronger, longer-lasting vinyl (supposedly). You will be hard-pressed to tell where the leather in your GC ends and the vinyl begins. The vinyl may actually wear better on some surfaces than the leather.

Some of you chemists out there can probably explain it better. I'm just an engineer and took "chemistry for dummies" according to my University "Chemistry for Engineers" course series professor.

So if I get hungry then the sides of my seats are always available not just for sustenance but little buzz on top of that. ;)

I would say just order the jeep the the Lux 2 package because it is less stress in the end...

If you order a Katzkin kit with the options I did it is about $980 if you buy it from an installer it will be $1500 so if you are getting a Limited anyway I would say order the package.

If you are pretty handy and you were buying a laredo E then you could look into a katzkin kit with the options you want.
