Leather cleaner and protector?

I know many people have discussed this topic before. but it has been almost 2 years now since the WK2 came out. and some people were concerned about the long term effects of using a leather cleaner manly on the leather dash.
My question is what are you using and if you have seen any ill effects of using it on the leather in your WK2? Also would you recommend it?

I have a summit so i have the saddle dash.
Thanks,:)

i dont have a WK2 but what was recomended to me by another member here for complete leather care, is a product line called Leatherique. i just used it on my front seats and i think i need to apply another coat and let it sit a bit longer to make a huge difference.

I like Zaino leather products. They have a spray cleaner, then use their "Leather in a bottle" conditioner to protect the seats. The smell, feel, and look is perfect!!! Does not have that gross shiny and greasy look that some products leave which I hate.
I don't have actually experience using these products on my new Overland, but on my other vehicle I am very happy with it.

My Overland has the saddle interior. I started using Zymol leather conditioner that I had left over from my last MB. It was good but the finish was slightly greasy. Even if I polished it with a clean cloth. Right now AutoGlym is doing a good job for me. My Teen age daughter gets in the car and comments on the smell of the treatment. Can't be a bad thing. :)

I have heard good things about Leatherigue but have not tried it...yet.
I just bought some(I have not applied) Chemical Guys Leather cleaner and also the conditioner. I am hoping for a matte finish.
I can recommended a definite do not buy and that is Meguiars wipes. They might clean and condition but holy cow! The gloss is way too much on the dash. I need sunglasses on cloudy days.

I have used this in other vehicles and was not impressed. I like the scent, but IMO, it still leaves a slippery feel to it compared to other more expensive conditioners. I too have not done anything with my overland leather.

i've heard this from other people and i don't get it. the interior detailer wipes? i've used them twice now, on the dash as well and i only see a matte finish - no shine. i don't even buff or wipe with a cloth after.

No the leather cleaner/conditioner wipes.

Maybe give the new ArmorAll detailer a try? http://www.armorall.com/products/vie...ex=protectants

Re: Leather cleaner and protector?

I use what the manufacture and most detailers recommend, dust the dash on occasion (vacuum sometimes, soft brush) and wipe with a damp cloth. On the seats I sometimes use a well diluted Lisol/water mix to clean. Been doing this for 30 years on my leathers without issue.

Conditioners can cause much more problems than they solve, between glossy/slippery seats and dashes and clogging pores. Car leathers are made a bit different than a leather coat or shoes and need a bit different treatment for best results.
