2008 WK - Dash lights LOW, column out **REVISED**
 
Dash is not completely out - just very low, but no power to either stick on the steering column - no turn signals, no wipers. No interior lights with door open either. BUT - the rocker buttons on the steering wheel function normally.

Key all the way left - everything off (normal)
Key in first position right - NAV system full power.
Key in second position right - Dash goes to low power, column sticks off.
Key all the way right (ignition) - everything lights up full.

Any ideas?

What is the normal position?

I mean "on". after starting, the dash lights (and column ctl) go out.

OK - Better description of problem. I did some further analysis...

Burn it, insurance claim?

Id grab a DMM and start tracing wires, see where you have power, where you dont.

Yeah, wire tracing seems like the thing to do unfortunately.
It's weird it went out all of a sudden - almost like something blew or got disconnected, although it ran fine the night before, no warning at all.

Is there anything in the key that could cause the problem?
The key is cracked open slightly at the seam around it. If anything got in there could it cause this behavior? I would think that it would stop the remote entry or the engine from starting, but not affect just the stick controls.
