Roof rail UHF aerial
I saw a neat GME AE4001 stubby aerial fitted to a Touareg roof rail with the cable directed inside the rail and into the body. Seems like an neat and tidy solution - the 4001 is a ground dependant type and only 150mm long stainless wire flex. There is plenty of roof around to provide a ground and using this the aerial can stay in place all the time.
I would like to fit one of these to the rail and get into the body but will need to take a rail off to find if there is a suitable hole underneath.
Has anyone removed a roof rail from their WK2? - or even better - is there a suitable hole up there?
Thanks - John

I believe Deserthucker has done something similar to what you want to do. Have a look here ... http://www.jeepgarage.org/f190/uhf-aerial-mount-38963.html
