Budget Boost “how to”/WK instructions?
 
I’m sure this answers is on here somewhere, but looking for some threads with a “how to” on the budget boost install including pictures and any issues that were encountered and resolved. I was wondering if it’s possible to do this without a spring compressor. I was thinking I could support the body with jack stands and then support/decompress the springs with a floor jack, but don’t know if that’s possible or even safe. Any input from anyone?

If this is possible and there isn’t any documentation on here, let me know and I’ll take pics and write it up when I’m done.

That's pretty close, but the Daystar kit requires disassembly of the front spring/strut assembly.

Ok, so you will need a spring compressor.

Compress the spring, remove the top of the shock assembly, pull the spring off the shock. Install your spacer, then re-assemble. Simple :D

I have heard of people keeping the springs compressed using a bunch of zip ties while the spring is loaded.

Never tried it.

For $20 you can "rent" a pair from any local auto parts store (Autozone i know for sure rents them)

Its not worth risking your life or maiming yourself while installing a lift kit.

Agreed. Just saying that I've heard of people doing this and it working so I answered his question "if it’s possible to do this without a spring compressor". I myself would not attempt it unless it was absolutley necessary. I think the zip ties is a better idea than the jacks! lol

Yeah, I think I'd load it up with ratchet straps before I try zip ties, but based on the layout of the spring/strut assembly, I think the compressor is the only way to go.

Unless, would there be a shop that would do the strut swap/spacer install if I brought them the whole assembly?
