REC inop disc changer.
Alright guys I more or less followed the following link to repair my broken joystick:

I did remember this (a little late for mine).

eject all your CD's first (nav DVD doesn't matter)
eject them 1,2,3,4,5,6 and DON'T turn the unit upside down, or your CD changer will jam
Mine was full of cd's and I am pretty sure I had it upside down before I remembered this note. Well that was not the problem. mine went off without a hitch less I tried to swap the post out as shown in the instructions but IT DOESNT WORK with the latest replacement part. The new replacement part has a notch in the post that fits into the direction passages, the old post does not so it doesnt fit into the notches preventing proper operation. That said, I got mine in and working properly (everything cd player, nav... all functions worked). Well I had to repair one for sales at the same time on a used car this one I made sure NOT to turn upside down, I didnt try swapping the post I just replaced the switch and reinstalled... Well the CD player jammed on this one... To keep sales happy I swapped units with mine (a upgrade/downgrade thing, inop cd player but it also had a newer nav disc so I lost the CD player I dont use and gained a newer nav disc.

Well I would like to keep everything operating as designed and occasionally I do use the cd player. I dont know if anyone has delt with this but is there ANYTHING I can do to this? I dont know what falls out of place, I dont know how far I would have to go into it, If its nothing I will be able to do I dont even want to take it apart as I like having a radio and dont want to destroy it for something I cannot fix but If its a matter of unbolting it and jiggling it a certain direction or popping a cover off and installing a linkage that has fallen out of place I would love to get this working.

Thanks guys.

Re: REC inop disc changer.
Never mind fellas, I got it, I had to pull the face off the unit and the top cover, I was able to get a disc that was all out of place:

With the face off the unit I was able to feed it out the front (it wouldnt line up with the cd slot with the face on). It uses gear driven twist posts that lift each tray up in slots in the posts as they turn. That was the hardest part, getting them all to the same spot, I got them where I thought they were good, tried it and 2 of them were farther ahead than the others, so I was able to just twist the 2 that were behind up one click and viola, all is good!

Showing the "no disc loaded" indicating it was able to shuffle through... the only reason i didnt have music playing was simply because the ones I took out of my unit during the swap I left at work and couldnt find a decent one, all that was in it was NOT my flavor of music and I couldn't stand it... but it did play it long enough for me to know it was working.

btw here is my joystick repair:

Good Job! I keep telling my GF to be gentle with that little stick as she inputs destinations.

Yeah... It was my parents neighbor that broke mine messing with the nav while we were heading up into the woods to go shooting... it costed me 35 bucks to repair.

Now the rule is no touching while driving ha ha

Great fix.

I replaced mine 4 years ago and haven't had a problem since - I believe the replacement part is far more durable than the orginal one that was in there...although I still get a little nervous everytime the wife goes to enter in a destination.
