Vehicle shut down at 110km/h, any one else have similar experience?

On the way home from qld the other day our Crd jgc shut down and would not restart. We ended having to call jeep. Assist, who were useless to give them a compliment. Ended up being stranded for a total of 6 hours.

Dealer has now had the car for 4 days (it was towed) and say they have been instructed to keep the car until they replicate the problem, meanwhile I have no car.....not a happy camper

They wouldn't even give you a loaner? Are you still under warranty?

They said I would have to pay bonds etc, when it clearly states in the jeeps assist manual that they would pay for the loan car. The dealership has lent me one, but jeep assist are useless.

Jeep Australia don't seem to interested, even though they are now racking up mms on a car I can't use, just so they can use is as a test mile. How is that fair. If they don't know how to fix it, they should give me a new one.

It is only 8 months old, 16000kms, so yes still under warranty.

The list of issues to date
Leak in cargo area...
Clunk in the gearbox on gear changes at light throttle.
Reversing camera failed
Car would not start
Car locked my kids in the car
Car left me stranded on side of highway with whole family in car, just made it to side of road against the Armco barrier before coming to a stop.

I love the car but these issues are getting ridiculous, I think I've got a lemon.

Am I the only one having these issues?

Do you have Quadra-Lift ? See here. Can understand not releasing the car if they do not know why it shut down (should be in the FDR) but they should give you an equivalent replacement from the zone pool.

The dealer has given me a patriot demo, but if they want track up Km's on my car to use it as a test mule, in my opinion they should buy it off me, and give me another. I'm sure they won't let me take a demo up the beach with my dog

Hi Gribbs,

Have you spoken directly with Jeep Australia? (Jeep Assist is run by Allianz Global, so yep they may well not give a crap).

If you have contacted Jeep directly and you're not getting action, then take it up with the fair trading body in your state.

I have friend who years ago, late 90's maybe, went through a string of issues with a Holden Astra (the type built in the UK). Holden decided to replace the car, and the new car had no issues.

Yeah, but at this stage they have done nothing

I would call Jeep AU ASAP. Let them know that you will be contacting the Dept Fair Trading if it is not resolved quickly. Also keep all details of expenses incurred and inconvience for the problems, like being stranded, having to use a lower spec loan car, extra mileage on your car.

Very stern letter outlining all the issues has been sent to Clyde Campbell and customer service. Quoted excepts from ACCC website and court cases around similar lemon style issues. I have given them 7 days to respond. Will let you know how it goes, hoping for a replacement JGC.

Every manufacturer produces a lemon(s) and for whatever reason you seem to have drawn the short straw with yours on this batch of WK2's!

You're now on the right track, whatever you do, hold your nerve and keep the pressure on. Ideally Jeep should do the right thing on their own but Fair Trading should keep them honest if they try and dodge the bullet.

Jeep still has my jeep...4 weeks later. They haven't fixed the electrical fault that locked my kids into the car at the start of April either. I have now sought a refund on the vehicle under the new Australian consumer law that came into force I. January 2011 . Thier first response was from a solicitor offering an additional 12 months factory warranty, I rejected it and kept my stance. Full refund must be agreed to by Tommorrow cob or the matter is referred to dept fair trading, the accc and the department of infrastructure and transport.

The letters were address straight to Clyde Campbell who resounded via a,solicitor

We are up to 8 weeks, still no car....getting pissed
