Is there something wrong with my Jeep?

I just purchased a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Summit. While I was waiting for my food at a drive-thru, I decided to change to sport mode from auto mode. When I made the change, the vehicle was in Drive, foot on the brake pedal and the next thing I know, the vehicle jerked pretty hard when putting the Jeep into sport mode. Is this normal?

Not normal at all.... I would take it back to the dealership ASAP.

I play around with my suspension a lot and regularly go from auto to sport and vice versa. I bought my 2012 Overland on March 12 and it has never once jerked when switching modes.

Hope this helps.

I have not experienced that myself. But keep in mind, when you are switching from Auto to Sport, it is changing the 4WD setup (Sport puts more torque to your rear wheels).
If you are parked in some manner that may have a small amount of binding in the 4WD system (such as turning a tight corner at a drive-thru), then this could be released when you change modes, hence a 'bump.'

For more info, see this Case tech info posted by xj31 a while back. It explained a 'bump' at engine start, but sounds like it could be related.

Bottom line if it was my Jeep: no panic, just see if it happens again and be aware of the circumstances leading up to it. If it persists and still bothers you, dealer time.

Mine does the same thing. It has something to do with the snow mode. If you linger to long in snow mode while switching to sport it will jerk rather adbrubptly.

Now if this is normal or not, I have no idea. I would also like to know.
